Wrigley's Favorite Things

Don't get too excited, we aren't giving things away like Oprah's Favorite Things!!!

I have been snapping shots of Wrigley in the last two weeks doing what he does best, SLEEP.  In every room in the house he has picked his favorite spots!

Starting in the Kitchen- This is his "Safe" Spot... He get's scared when I'm cooking, I have no idea why- Maybe he has tasted my cooking.  It also may be the clanging of the pots and pans or the fact that in the old apartment I set off the smoke alarm nine times out of ten while cooking (it was the oven, not me!!)
He also goes to his "safe" spot when I have the fly swatter out, when DJ has his tools out, or really anytime anything is going on because he is a scaredy cat dog!

Next, we move into the formal living room- He loves to lay here and look out the window when DJ is working in the yard or torment the innocent neighborhood dogs going on their evening walks.   He is quite the guard dog...as you can tell he is terrifying!

Onto the bedroom- As soon as DJ's alarm goes off in the morning, he jumps in bed, burroughs under the covers, and gets as close to me as possible.  Touching  me with his cold nose a few times in the process and of course tickling the crap out of me with his wiskers!
Once I get out of bed, he takes his spot and stays there under I pry him from under the covers to go outside.  I am positive we would both be happier if DJ slept in that little bed in the left corner of this picture, and we had the bed to ourselves...

He has a few different "favorite places" in the family room.  It's where we spend the most time, so he moves from place to place.  First up, the love seat.  It serves a dual purpose, because he can stand up and easily survey the neighborhood from time to time.

His all time favorite place to sleep at night while we are watching TV- his leopard bed with his little cubs blanket- He was obviously thrilled by the fact I have been following him around with the camera for the past 2 weeks...

He also likes to curl up on his favorite cubs blanket on the automan....isn't he cute?

His favorite spot in the old apartment was on the middle cushion of the couch, so in the new house he frequents it every now and then for old times sake....

When Wrigley isn't sleeping he likes to survey the premises by running along the fence, making sure there are no intruders, because if there were, he would be the first to know- just ask the UPS man

He can also keep watch on top of love seat- which he loves

My soon to be sister in law says Wrigley is like the monkey in Toy Story 3 who keeps watch behind a wall of TV's connected to camera's... like this-
I would't put it past him to have a room like this somewhere in our house- one thing I do know about him, nothing gets past him, NOTHING!

He also checks out the pool once or twice a day- he's still not sure about it.

About 8 o'clock every night (after a day full of sleeping) he runs over to his toy basket, roots around for the perfect toy, sometimes knocking it over in the process, and then squeaks it like crazy for about 20 minutes... and then its back to bed... His life is pretty exhausting...

Today I left him outside for a minute, and when I came back out this is where I found him...
in between the hostas... he's so weird!

So there ya go, a day in the life of Wrigley!!

Other Happenings...

Even though it seemed like the world may have came to a hault while we were in the process of moving and unpacking, two very special couples celebrated an anniversary!

On the Sunday after we moved, DJ's grandma and grandpa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party for friends and family

And at that party, my brother in law surprised this girlfriend by asking her to marry him.  She said yes...

Congrats to both of them!! We love you!

YUMMY!!!!

My dad, sister, and niece were our first visitors and they brought us this DELICIOUS treat to welcome us to our new home.  It is two ginormous chocolate chip cookies with a layer of icing in the middle and on top.  It is too delicious for words, and if you are ever at Sam's you MUST TRY ONE!!!!! Fortunatly, it was too rich for most people to have more than a few bites, which left plenty for me!! I ate it for breakfast for the rest of the week!!
It was so good I wasn't even able to get a picture of it before we cut into it, but you get the idea!! Thanks Brenda and Carlee!! Just FYI- I have an anniversary AND birthday coming up so I will expect another one...:-)

MOVING DAY!!!!

Ok, so I know these posts are a little out of order.  Since we haven't had internet at the house until today (a week and a half without internet was WAY harder than I thought it would be) I have just been making random posts when I have the chance to be at a computer! So sorry, but I'm sure you can keep up!

So here it is- Finally a moving day post, a week and a half late.  We are for the most part unpacked now and I will try to get the blog caught up with pictures soon!

We rented a U-Haul for the first time in our many, many moves over the years, and it turned out to be the best decision ever.  It was suppose to rain that day, so we thought it would be a good investment, and it only ended up costing about $75 and it was worth every penny! We basically got everything in one trip including the U Haul, my Escape, my mom's SUV, and DJ's truck.  We had plenty of helpers, as usually, and we are very thankful for them.  It was a great day, not too hot and it didn't end up raining.

Here we are posing with the empty U Haul

This was a bright idea thought of by the Holmes' brothers.. because taking the table apart and carrying it down the stairs in two pieces would be way too much work they had the brillant idea to lower it over the balcony.. it ended up working but it was a little scary- I didn't get the camera out in time to take a video, but you can kind of get the idea from this photo

Once the U Haul was loaded- We were off to Table Grove

The very FULL U Haul in front of our new house
I captured a picture of all of our helpers....

Thanks MOM!

and brother... he thinks if he helps us he will be able to move in at the end of July...

The doorways are pretty narrow so to move the living room furniture in we had to take out a window... DJ backed the U Haul right up to the window and it was super easy!

Don't mind the border, it will eventually be gone

Almost done...

Me taking the very last thing out of the U Haul..

and we are done!!!!

Before and After (Kind of)

Here are some pics from the day before we moved in and the day we moved in- It's not really a before and after because we aren't even close to being done, but here's what it looks like mid-way through unpacking

After the furniture was arranged!! Can't wait to hang the pictures and decorate.  We got so lucky and bought this gently used lazy boy furniture from our neigbors.  It is so comfortable, we love it! Anyone want to take bets on how long I will be able to hold DJ off from putting a TV in this room?? We will see...
